Nutrition and mood

Food affects mood, mental clarity and physical strength

Starting from Hippocrates’ wonderful phrase “Let food be thy medicine”, one realises that medicines themselves are made from substances and vitamins that come from natural sources.

Beyond the ingredients it contains, food is also affected by energy, quality and the combinations that support proper absorption, as well as by the specific quantities and needs of each animal – just as it is for people.

The choice of food depends on factors such as age, weight, activity, personality, any allergies and of course taste – that is, whether the animal likes it and eats it happily.

Combining dry or wet food with natural food and treats as rewards or as extra taste experiences creates the ideal variety, providing the essential nutrients as well as flavours that contribute to the animal’s good health and wellbeing.

Any shortfall in quantity or vitamins, as well as an irregular intake of essential nutrients, can lead to low mood or illness.

Also, when changing food, it is advisable to introduce the new food gradually, and we can supplement with rice, boiled egg and vegetables (e.g. carrot, sweet potato, broth) that add flavour and energy to a dog’s bowl, or sardines, soft cheese and broth to a cat’s meal.

The treats we recommend – natural, of course, and made with love – can be found in the shop thekahu.gr for both dogs and cats, as well as a nutrition plan designed specifically for your animal based on its needs!
